WordPress tends to roll out TWO major updates a year. You can also count on the occasional update as needed. It is important to keep your site safe and secure by making sure these updates are happening on your site. Of course, there are advantages to keeping your WordPress core updated beyond security, such as the additional cool features that they often throw in. We can do these updates for you.
Depending on your theme developer, you may receive monthly theme updates or yearly updates. As with WordPress Core and Plugins, there may also be security updates released. You can count on us to look for these, too.
When is the last time that your site was backed up? Your site is only as reliable as your latest backup. We will either make sure that your site is being backed up on schedule with our tools or make sure that your hosting company is backing up your site.
When is the last time that you looked at your traffic reports? We will send you a simple and quick screenshot each month. You will know how much traffic that you have and what the primary traffic sources are.
Each plugin is unique and its developer adds updates at different times of the year. Sometimes a security vulnerability is found and the developers will patch it and provide an update. Other times an update can cause your version to be unstable and you will want to miss that update. Then there are times when development on a plugin is abandoned and updates don't happen for years. Regardless, plugins require monitoring.
All of these updates are critical to your WordPress site but that doesn't mean that they always go according to plan. There are many moving pieces on any given site and sometimes when you do an update, something breaks. It is normal but it doesn't feel normal when it happens. Panic is more like the feeling that I have each time this happens to me. This is why we offer support for this issue.
Your maintenance plan includes 1 hour of this kind of support. If we can't fix it in one hour we will roll back your site to the latest update and recommend a solution. This may mean a new plugin or any various choices. We will work out the best solution as a team.
We will monitor your site and make sure that it is loading. If it goes down for whatever reason, we will get an alert. We set up a system so that we are checking your site every FIVE minutes. If it goes down, we will do everything that we can to get it back up and running as quickly as possible. Our goal is to minimize your downtime.
We include one hour of monthly support for your blog but sometimes that's not enough. Just email us your service request and we will make your desired changes. These may include changing out your WordPress sidebar or creating a new landing page. As always, if a project request is going to exceed your one hour of support, we will let you know and give you an estimate in advance. Then you can decide if you want to buy extra hours and proceed.
We will spend ONE HOUR doing everything in our power to fix it, including getting your hosting company on the phone. Most of the time, a crash caused by an update can be fixed. However, there are times when plugins, themes and WordPress mixtures are no longer compatible. If this happens we will roll back your site and restore it to its latest backup. Then we will recommend a replacement plugin.
We offer support 8am CST to 7pm CST. While we do not officially offer support on the weekends, we are generally checking email. If you have an emergency and we have an internet connection, consider us on call. Also, we have backup maintainers so there is always someone watching and ready to act.
